Broad by design. Selective by conviction.
W5 Group invests the Winter family's own capital. That single fact shapes everything that follows: we answer to a family rather than a fund, we can hold for as long as an opportunity deserves, and we can go where our experience and relationships genuinely take us.
Family capital allows us to think in generations.
A long-term horizon gives us freedom: to wait when waiting is the right answer, to adapt when circumstances change, and to move decisively when conviction is high.
We invest as owners and partners, favoring enduring relationships over transactions, alignment over structure, and opportunities where our capital, experience and network can contribute beyond the investment itself.

Real estate is the foundation, not the boundary.
Decades of entrepreneurial work in real estate shaped our instinct for value and our comfort with long-dated decisions. It remains our foundation, not our limit.
Today we invest across the built environment, private companies and operating businesses, public markets, credit, specialist managers, and technology and AI — directly, through managers, or alongside long-standing partners.
A generational horizon is our default, not our constraint. Because the capital is our own, we can also act on short-dated opportunities within days.
Four areas, one perspective.

Places
Real estate & the built environmentResidential and commercial property across Europe and the United States remains the foundation of the family's experience and the area where our conviction runs deepest. We think about buildings as places people live and work in, held through cycles rather than traded through them.

Companies
Direct & operating investmentsWe take direct stakes in businesses we understand, backing founders and operators who are building something durable rather than something quick. Ownership, not exposure: we prefer to be close to the people running the company and useful to them over years.
- Direct private-company investments
- Operating businesses and platforms
- Founder- and family-led situations

Markets
Public markets & creditPublic markets, fixed income and credit give the family balance and flexibility. Positions are held without a clock on them and sized to a generational horizon, and we work with specialist external managers where their focus and discipline exceed our own.
- Public equities held through cycles
- Fixed income and credit
- Selected specialist external managers

Innovation
Technology, venture & AIWe increasingly look to where the world is heading — technology, artificial intelligence and AI-enabled services reshaping how people live, work and build. This is pursued selectively, through curiosity, relationships and trusted access rather than volume.
- Technology and AI-enabled businesses
- Venture capital through trusted relationships
- Ideas that inform the family's broader thinking
Three ways we put family capital to work.
Directly
As owners and partners, investing the family's own capital with the discretion that comes from having no one to raise from. Direct ownership lets us stay close to the asset, the company and the people building it.
With specialist managers
Where a strategy demands focus, infrastructure or expertise beyond our own, we work with a small number of specialist managers. We choose them the way we choose partners: for alignment, judgement and a long horizon.
Alongside families and partners
We value the trust of like-minded families, entrepreneurs and long-standing partners, co-investing with those who share our approach to responsible ownership and our willingness to wait.
Thinking beyond the framework.
- 01
Alignment of interest
We want to sit on the same side of the table as the people we invest with, over the whole life of an investment rather than the length of a structure.
- 02
Durability
Assets and businesses with a reason to exist in twenty years: real demand, real cash generation, real usefulness to the people they serve.
- 03
People we want a long relationship with
Operators and founders whose character we respect. Most of what we do begins with a relationship and outlasts a single investment.
- 04
Somewhere we can add more than capital
Situations where our experience across cycles, our transatlantic network and our long horizon contribute something beyond the investment itself.
Ownership carries responsibility.
Our roots in homes and communities have shaped a lasting sense of responsibility. Inclusion, environmental considerations, community wellbeing and long-term relevance are integrated into how we think about ownership, not treated as a separate initiative.
That view extends to everything we own, in real assets and far beyond them. It shapes which opportunities we pursue, how we work with partners and operators, and the standards we hold ourselves to over years rather than quarters.
We aim to leave companies, places and relationships stronger than we found them.
How a first conversation usually goes.
Most introductions reach us through someone we already know and trust. A first conversation is unhurried: we listen, share how we think, and are candid early about whether there is a genuine fit.
We look for people we would want to work with over years, situations where our experience is genuinely useful, and a shared willingness to build slowly. What we discuss stays between us.
The best opportunities begin with a trusted introduction.
If our perspective resonates with yours, we would welcome the conversation.
Founders and business owners
Building something durable and looking for a patient owner rather than a fund clock.
Specialist managers
Focused strategies where your discipline and depth exceed our own.
Families and long-standing partners
Co-investing alongside those who share a generational perspective.
